Clay in addition to the excellent advice others have given you here, if your Grandmother is a candidate for surgery you might like to contact a person called 'eb' here (not sure if eb is male or female). His/her father had the Whipple and I believe he was in his 70's or even older and did very well with it. It is a serious operation, but I think eb knows a fair amount about it being done with older patients and may be of some help.
