Hi Fran, I am glad to see you post. Hope you are hanging in there. I have had a lot of experience with medical bills from both myself and now I am handling my dad's bills. My advice to you know is to open them all and put them in a folder, PERIOD. Wait it out and let them battle. Try not to react at all while getting past due notices. It is amazing first of all, how many mistakes they will make and how slow it will be for your insurance to pay everything. You may end up owing nothing after it is all said and done. Some companies after a period of time will write off the difference. Others may threaten to take you to collection. I say wait though awhile and then see what the result is. Give it a good six months and then see what statements you are still getting. Insurance is so complicated nowdays. I had a major illness and the companies ending up writing off most of the balance of what I owed after insurance. It is not that uncommon. If you really can't handle it, you can pay someone to handle it for you. There are companies who just specialize in processing medical claims for people-usually they are run by individuals. Just don't let it get to you because it should be the least of your worries right now. Just take care of yourself. I hope this was kind of helpful? I am babbling I know. Lisa in Az
