Marion: my husband is still with us and keeping his head above water for far longer than it was predicted. as i stated in the first post, he had gemzar, then 4 cisplatin treatments. they didn't show any improvement and were very hard to endure so that was discontinued and he tried something called irinotican which for him was so drastic and intolerable that he had it only 2x. now he is on Xeloda which is the pill form of 5FU. we son't know yet if his 19-9 # is down from before but he is tolerating this chemo fairly well. why has your doc not had a 19-9 reading done? a base line is established with this lab test to which subsequent readings are compared to know if there is improvement. best wishes. cirel
