I discovered this board and all you brave and wonderful folks and have been reading and taking notes for the last week and a half....my husband has a reoccurence of PC and there is a question that I would like to have an answer to that I have not seen posted. My husband was on Gemzar for 4 months and his condition stabilized (thats good) hjowever for the past 13 months he has been impotent, he is 58 years old . My husband is a very quiet and dignified man and very stubborn. He feels very uncomfortable discussing this with me and refuses to discuss it with his Dr. Please do not think I am thinking only of myself, I am not...I know he feels like his whole life has just been taken from him and he struggles so hard to deal with everything....he has cried many times about not being able to function as he used to and I feel so helpless...I am hoping some of you can point me in the right direction with this sensitive issue with him...is this normal for PC patients? Is it a side effect of the Gemzar (hes been off it for 9 months now)?
