So sorry to hear about your brother. My husband was diagnosed in 4/01 with the same and he is only 46 with two very small children at home. It is just a heart breaker. Rick did Gemzar and Xeloda for many months which I think held it at bay but did not shrink the tumor. We would still be doing that if we had had more luck with it. It actually grew just a couple of cms as of this last ct scan. He has since decided to quit chemo and is now trying Fred's vitamins, Essiac tea, Graviola, MGN-3s and goes to see an Indian Healer several times a month. Plus, we have his records sent to Staten Island to see if we can qualify for a new procedure called radiosurgery. I sure hope we do because they seem to have quite a bit of success with it.

Some people have done very well on Gemzar for many many many months and there are others who have had success with the vitamins. The last month has been terrible in our home with Rick in bed 24/7 and no energy and today he mowed the lawn and we leaving the kids and going overnight by ourselves tomorrow. I'm so excited.

This chat board is the best thing to happen to us. You can do searches from the bottom and look up meds or procedures, etc., to see how others have dealt with the, etc. We found out about a celiac nerve block through the board which I would highly recommend if your brother is in a lot of pain. Rick is actually painfree now after the block. It is a tough procedure but well worth the end result, at least for us anyway.

I hope I have helped you out a bit. There are so many lovely people who post here who would love to support you and your brother! Hang in there and always keep the hope. Sctsmom
