You are right about thirst being symptomatic of diabetes & of course those of us with PC are most susceptible to it since sugar is metabolized by the islets of Langerhans (sp?) located in the pancreas. Most PC patients receive frequent blood tests. Does your dad? Tell him or your mom to call his physician & find out when his glucose was last tested. If it wasn't within the past month, then by all means he should have it tested before going on vacation. On the other hand, he may just be thirsty. Sometimes this disease gets us so panicked that we see dangers that don't exist. Bottom line: I have diabetes as a consequence of PC & have to take 2 little pills every morning to control it. I wish everything connected with this illness was so simple. Tell them to have a great vacation.
