Malcolm, the chemo regmine should be determined after the oncologist knows the type of cancer. Our dad had the adeno and I know in the states the only chemos that are approved for that type is gemcitibine(bemzar) and the 5-FU I will have to get back to you on the name of the 5-FU tonight. I am at work and I got all that info in my computer at home. There are lots of clinical trials out there(in the states)that are commonly given along with gemzar and the 5-FU. A lot of patients do the 5 FU along with radiation. Very, very few do the gemzar while on radiation because most oncologist and radiologist feel it is too toxic of a combination to do together. There is a tumor marker test for PC called CA-19-9 the normal range is 34. There are some test that can be done to determine exactly the type of tumor and maybe the doctor ran some of those. I do remember one is a simple urine test. I will give you the names of those tonight when I get home. Hugs Lillie
