In my husband's case neither the PET nor the spiral located his cancer even though it was 3 cms big when they finally removed it. The only thing that located the tumor and allowed them to do a successful biopsy was an EUS which doesn't involve any dyes.

Once again though the EUS procedure does not have a 100% success rate, but it does often locate things other scans have failed to.
