Thank You for getting back to me. I have been trying to encourage my mother in-law to join the chat room. I believe it should help. I know it did when I was sick. I am a cancer survivor myself (Burkitts lymphoma, cured by BMT).

The treatment for my FIL was delayed due to his broken hip. He is getting better but not able to get around on his own yet. He is still in the rehab.

I know they have been giving him a shot for the diaharea. He is fluctuating between this and constipation. He also has started to throw up blood when he gets sick. A scope done last week did not show the cause of the blood. His Regular Dr. (My primary who is very good) is going to schedule another scope because he feels there is something there(probably next couple of days).

As far as medication, he was being given something for the hormones but needed to stop until they regulated his bowels. He does have a morphine patch and does not have the back or stomach pain just the nausea. The onc was talking about chemo the last visit. I have not attended these visits but plan on the next time.

Please don't worry about over-whelming me. I am trying to be the one in the family gathering the info. My MIL just seems to be overwhelmed. I figure I can do some of the research and keep her informed.

As far as the type of islet cell, We need to ask the ONC. This is one of the reasons I want to talk to the dr. I have a neice who is a pediatric oncology nurse at a major hospital in Boston. She will talk to her dr's when I can get some more info.

At my lat visit with my BMT dr., I asked her about the onc my fil was seeing. She said the onc was very good. Atleast I feel he is in good hands. Please feel free to email me anytime.
