Donna, thanks for the advice. Actually, chemo was never really an optioin for Dad. (A problem with a teaching hospital..too many opinions from those 'not quite' doctors.) The 'real' doctors told us that there was no treatment for this type of cancer. If Dad's underlying health were good (he had MS)and maybe younger, the prognosis might be different. We had several very good days with Dad. We took advantage of every minute we had. I think the entire town came to visit. Dad was perhaps the most respected lawyer in all of Western North Carolina. Unfortunately (with no warning at all), he simply stopped breathing on Feb 12. This is exactly the way he wanted it. If I had any advice to those going through this, it would be your advice....enjoy every single minute you have!
