The goal for your sister after surgery will be to eat normally, expell waste normally, and resume as close to previous functioning as before the surgery. Now, if your sister golfed 18 holes a day, she won't be able to do that right away, but it certainly isn't out of the question. As you can imagine, this is dependent upon how your sister does with the surgery and any further treatment she would seek. But I can tell you that I have seen many many patients return to their previous activities a few months after surgery. - Heather
