Hi Jim: I had a Whipple 1/31/00 and 3 sessions of gemzar (gemcytobine) then a port/pump where I had 6 weeks of 5FU combined with radiation. Nausea was the worst side effect, and Kytril was the only thing that worked. Then I had 6 more weeks of gemzar. Got very tired, but I've been feeling great since the end of the treatments. Hopefully you won't have to work during the latter weeks of radiation (although my doctor told of a man in his 60s who had no effects at all from the radiation/chemo); I used the entire last year as a time to be indulgent -- read, watched videos, spent time with family & friends. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck. Joy
