As above, your father does have every right to see whatever doctor he chooses (unless of course he has an HMO or due to insurance concerns), even then, you may see another doctor, you just might end up paying out of pocket; however, with your question, if the doctor is in the same group, that should not be a concern. Doctors, health professionals are 'employees' of sorts. They are being paid by us (or OUR insurance company) and sometimes doctors forget that. Unless there is a policy in that particular office (and I have known some office to have such a policy) that a patient cannot switch doctors within the practice, you have every right to request the other doctor and really don't need to give a reason. Not all people get along with everyone else. People are different with different personalities and some people just clash. This includes doctors and patients. If they really want an explanation and are pushing you for one, you might just say I think my father and Dr. ***** have a personality conflict and I have heard good things about Dr. ((((( and we really don't want to change practices, since Dad has been being seen here and his records are here, etc. (you get the idea). Otherwise, could you just call and make an appointment with this other doctor and not even address the change with anyone. Just some thoughts. Hope they help. JS>
