Hi, I am sorry I have not been on for awhile, I tried Monday night but could not get on the message board was busy. It has not been a good couple of weeks. My friend is going to have 5FU and Radiation for pain control only. They are telling us that within a couple of weeks he should notice a big difference in the pain. Is this true? He went for his simulation yesterday and was supposed to start chemo today, we went to the appt. but was put on hold, because he is not starting the radiation until Friday, so he will not get the chemo until Monday 3treatments and then radiation 5 days a week until the pain is gone and then 3 more chemo treatments and stop. We are already in the RFS2000 trial we just have to wait 2 weeks after the end of the radiation. I can't believe though what has happened in the last couple of weeks, 2 weeks ago he was working every day and playing soccer on weekends, Now he can barely get out of the house, he is in so much pain I asked the doc. about the pain management team and he just upped his dose of the patch 150 mg., he said the radiation will help, but now he is also taking percs ever 4 hours and that still is not helping, I got a call at work this afternoon and he was in so much pain he told me this better be the end, I can't take anymore. He is giving up, no control, can't even think anymore because of the pain. I quess tommorrow I fight for the pain management team, and will not take no for an answer. I guess I just want to know if there is hope with this treament has anyone had it and got pain relief? I pray there is because if not I don't know how more he can take, and I can honestly say I don't blame him. To see him writhing around the floor like a wounded animal in so much pain is unbearable for me I can't fathom what it is for him, he is a strong person but this is inhuman. Any hope will help. One more thing please give a prayer to a friend on board Arlene, she is going through hell with her husband he is in a hospital in Michigan, and the docs and staff have screwed up three times on him now. Wrong tests, not documenting meds he recieved, etc. She is at the end of her rope too. I am not sure where in Michigan she lives, but I think she should get her husband out of wher he is. Any advise for her as to a good medical facility in Michigan I would greatly appreciate too! Sorry I know I am asking alot, but I can't stand the suffering and I think if we all get together maybe we can do something about it, I'm not sure what but anything will help. Thank you again, Cindy
