Is he being followed by a gastroenterologist to help?

Has he seen a nutritionist?

How much Creon is he taking? Some docs prescribe too little. You may need to take more spread throughout the meal, and take some with snacks.

Are you using any supplements? Ensure Enlive has both high protein and high calories. We also add protein powder or powdered milk to drinks/smoothies/soups/cream of wheat etc.. to get extra calories and nutrition.

I make an incredible smoothie for my father every day for lunch that he loves. Fortunately, he is a creature of habit and likes the same thing every day. His nutritionist said it was the most amazing high calorie high nutrition shake she has seen. The secret is using a combination of nut butters (several tablespoons), protein shakes (like Ensure), whole milk yogurt, protein powder, a banana and some whole milk. It is totally delicious and easy to drink.

Does he have gastroporesis, a common complication of the Whipple (slow stomach emptying)? This decreases his appetite and makes it harder to eat enough. Talk to his gastroenterologist to fin out if this is part of the problem.
