That is good he is taking Creon and protein shakes. Make sure the protein shakes are truly healthy and not just full of sugar and useless additives. I used orgain. If he had a whipple then he does not have a duodenum (part of small intestine) which aids in absorbing nutrients. If he is able to eat then small meals multiple times a day. You want his body to heal so healthy meals not just a bunch of unhealthy snacks which provide zero health benefits (but they sure taste good).
Nuts are high in calories and fat. He could have these throughout the day. Cook with olive oil 1 tsp adds 100 calories. Coconut oil also good and coconut milk has lots of fats. Avocado as well. Look into healthy high calorie foods.
This is a slow process as he heals so it may take much longer than you
