My brother has developed edema / swelling in his scrotum / testicles and it's become quite uncomfortable. I've read about placing a rolled up towel underneath to elevate and that seems to maybe help a little bit but not dramatically.

Does anyone else have experience with this or tips? Does it get worse, and how often is it followed by ascites (fluid build-up in the stomach)? My brother does have significant swelling in his feet and ankles, but as yet doesn't seem to have any significant swelling in abdomen, though he does feel bloated at times.

It would be reassuring to hear that edema in feet and genitals was not necessarily always followed by fluid in the stomach.

My 60-year-old brother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer with mets to the liver about July 1 and opted not to seek treatment, in large part because he has a compromised immune system.
