I am so very sorry to hear about your wife. My dearest mom also experienced difficulties with eating for the same reasons you mentioned. What helped us was the following. We set-up a really nice eating space with placemats/candles/flowers. The entire family ate very slowly so as not to rush my mom. Softer foods was the way to go for us. I would cook skinless chicken breasts and then blend them into a cream of vegetable soup; this way she was eating protein. She also like very small portions of scrambled eggs and also rice with a few vegetables. It was different all the time. I believe the best we did was be patient and not focus on the food. We talked and listened to music or even ate with a TV show on. It is VERY hard; but the last thing you want to do is be visibly frustrated. That will not help anything. Peace to you and your family during this oh so difficult time.
