This past week I have celebrated the 18th anniversary of my 10 hour Whipple at Hopkins in 2001 performed by Dr Charles Yeo. At that time, Yeo, Cameron and Lillimoe were saving a lot of lives with the Whipple. Dr Yeo is now in Philadelphia head of surgery at Thomas Jefferson and I attend his yearly seminar almost ever year. Some of the Hopkins staff went with him around 16 years ago. I had a Mucinous Neoplasm in the head of the Pancreas larger than an orange. He removed the head with the tumor. Apparently, the cancer cells were encapsulated in the tumor and had not spread. Lucky me..I now take enzymes with meals ever since. Creon right now. Diet is real important and Pancreatic sufferers must control how they cook and eat fried foods. I eat a lot of steamed vegetables and use the new power air fryers for cooking some of my food. Much love and concern goes out to those of you who are in the battle. First, I think you have to have great diagnosis and if surgery is able, choose someone who performed a lot of whipples. By the way, I never had to undergo chemo or radiology. This board was my home a lot back then....There were a lot of us who chatted....Lillie was always here with advice...Don't know if she is still around. My experience with Hopkins was great. And finally, no one is more important in this struggle than a good caregiver...Bless them all! Delos!
