So happy that it was caught so early! Everyone's surgical experience is different. Having said that, I will share my husband's experience. Caught 'unexpectedly' during a CT of abdomen/pelvis for recurrent diverticulitis. To OR within one week. Distal pancreatectomy/splenectomy. 4.5 cm tumor. Positive margins. Out of hospital a week later. Back to work in 2 weeks ( desk job). We went on a cruise 4 weeks from date of surgery, he felt fine. 9 months of chemo and radiation, followed by a one year clinical trial at Hopkins. Now 5.5 years out from surgery. Recent scan good. Feels fine. Zero latent effects from surgery. I pray you will have that surgery quickly as this seems to be key. I do feel with a distal pancreatectomy, you will have less long term side effects than those whom have a whipple. Best wishes to you !!!!
