My first reaction to reading this was wow sounds like she’s getting horrible care. I’m assuming she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/ dementia prior to the surgery hence the mental state?? She could have a UTI urinary track infection which is common in elderly and cause confusion. This can be checked easily.

In regards to vomiting what are they doing for that? Meds like compazine, zofran can help for nausea and vomiting.

If you are not happy with the care I would recommend finding another doctor/team to evaluate. It sounds like she’s too unstable to be moved to another hospital so I would look up what other hospitalist deals with Pancan and get a consult.

It seems like she has too many issues that are not being addressed. Good luck and I hope she gets better soon.
