My mom has been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in late September 2018. Her EUS FNA findings were positive for cancer and it was found that she has a mass on the head of the pancreas. So far it appears that her chemo treatments have not been effective. I cannot stop wondering if it is at all possible that she has autoimmune pancreatitis and not cancer. There is no history of cancer in our extended family and she already has other autoimmune diseases (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren's and Psoariasis). Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part, but I cannot stop obsessing about it after reading a lot of information online about AIP type 2. She is being treated at a very reputable hospital and I am sure that they are trying their best, but still worried if there is a possibility of her being misdiagnosed. Anyone out there who had similar experience?
