I started posting here about 8 yrs ago. I was scouring the internet for answers, after I was DXed with the beast. As most of you already know, the stats say with conventional treatment, 2 years is a base line longevity. I told my doctor when I was DXed, chemo, radiation and surgery, didn't fit into my lifestyle. Understand that I was scared sh**less, but had to put on a good front for my better half. I went the natural route and took IV vitamin C, and took many herbs and spices (Turmeric, ALA, ETC.). Luckily, my PC stayed stable. My CA-19-9 bounced to a high of the mid 300's and CT scans basically showed stability.

Fast forward 7 years and MDA told me they could only offer me surgery. It was unacceptable and I started looking into other treatments. I found that the cancer center in Corpus Christi TX. did Cyberknife, so I went and talked to them. They sent me for a Pet Scan and I found out I had Malignant Melanoma, so I was started on Opdivo, because I refused chemo. Last October, I finally got them to consent to Cyberknife. I had 5 treatments of 40 minutes each. To my surprise the first Pet Scan following the treatments showed an approximately 50% decrease in the size of the mass.

My Pet scan last month showed basic in activity in the mass and my last 3 CA-19-9's have been in the mid 20's. The doctor told me that the mass was now just scar tissue. The good Lord works in mysterious ways, unfortunately the FDA works by the 'standard of care'. I have come to hate that phrase.
