increasing blood iron was posted 01/30/2018 07:21 am by John1121

Prior to each chemo treatment, (I am on an aggressive regiment), I get tested for 26 blood parameters.

Two that are below the normal range are hemoglobin and red blood cell counts.

My staff recommended trying to boost my iron intake through my diet. So, I gave up drinking tea, because the tannins chelate with iron and ate a lot of pistachios, because I learned that they are high in iron and low in carbs (my tumor has influenced my pancreas so that I now have to take insulin 4 times a day, and it is still hard to control my glucose levels).

Has anyone found a way to effectively increase hemoglobin and red blood cell counts through foods or supplements?

Thanks,

John1121
