It has a long way to go. The sensitivity is still low, and they need to do a trial of using it in people who are not known to have cancer already to see its utility. It will need testing on a large group of people to determine if it will be cost effective, and how sensitive and specific it is for this population, and this will take time.

Remember, every test has a risk/benefit/cost.

It's still a great important step. Honestly, we will never be able to prevent or 'cure' all cancers, especially those discovered at later stages. Our best approach is early detection, because catching it early holds the greatest chance of a cure.
