I'm in ny 5th post-op week from the Whipple. They plugged the drain (but left in) and 5 hrs later I was in excruciating pain and had to be admitted to the hosp for pain management. CT showed lipase number of 285 and a small pocket of fluid in the abdomen. I've heard the bump in lioase number is caused by edema. Pain meds and unplugging the drain stopped the pain. Now they have to remove it completely tomorrow and I'm scared. What happens if it backs up again and there's no drain to open this time?!
