I am so sorry for what you and your family are going through. It's very difficult...I know....Every case is different, and you may get differing answers, so take what I say in the spirit of it's what I know because of what I went through with my husband. Frank wasn't on Hospice at the time, so his options may have been greater than what you have offered to your family, AND, each Hospice is different in what they can offer. Frank was experiencing the same symptoms you mentioned and then one day woke up as yellow as a sunflower....He just happened to have a MD consult for a possible surgical biopsy that day and when the MD saw him, he informed him he was not going to be going home from the hospital. They put a PIC line in, put him on liquids, did some scans and found his blockage. 3 days later he had a pretty big surgery to reroute the intestine past the tumor. (It's got a long name and I forget what it was called). They also put a feeding tube in. The MD told him if they had not done this, he would not have lived the 3 days. BUT also having said that, Frank also said later, if he knew what the remaining days were, he would have decided against the surgery.

Now remember what I said, in that all cases are different. You are already working with Hospice. Comfort is the goal. The yellow of the skin doesn't hurt...but the uncomfortable feeling of the blockage may cause indigestion and pain..... Again, I'm sorry for what you are experiencing.
