Hard to answer your question. Could any illness be a precursor to weakening your immune system (yes) and could this lead to re-occurrence (don't know) but you are wise in trying to get healthy soon. I think if food as medicine. Are you eating sufficient fruits and vegetables. Are you taking supplements multi vitamins, vitamin c which helps with absorbtion? Remember after whipple you don't absorb properly so diet has to change.

I am stage 1 survivor post whipple nearly 3 years. Seems like this virus is beating you down. Antibiotics won't help a virus. I would suggest stripping your diet to 'clean' foods then gradually add as you see fit. It's always trial and error and what works for me may not help you.
