The problem with drugs in the sulfonylurea class is that they stimulate already overworked and distraught pancreas. Just saying I'd rather be on insulin with tight control (because I had some pancreas left), then totally dependent on insulin with somewhat brittle control. When your pancreas totally burns out you'll be left with not only insulin resistance, but no insulin production. So can you agree that insulin is preferable to sulfonylureas?
