I tried to take Metformin a few years ago. I guess I am one of a few people who cannot tolerate the drug. Severe muscle weakness that did not get better the longer I was on the drug - it got worse. I understand Metformin is recommended as beneficial for people who develop diabetes following Whipple surgery or other treatment for PC. I would gladly take it in addition to the insulin if I could tolerate it.
