Hi. I feel your dad's pain and anxiety. I have lived with chronic, uncontrollable diarrhea for over two years after my whipple. I currently take Imodium 6 tabs a day. It doesn't stop it, just slows it down so I can go out. I usually don't eat if I want to go out because I often have to go unexpectedly which is stressful and can be embarrassing if accident occurs or if can't find public restroom.

I take 2 with my 3 main meals. Immodium is covered by insurance if you get a prescription. You can also try lomotil which is a very mild narcotic which helps but I am allergic to(ugh).

I have tried quite a few things prior to this. Antibiotics, steroids entocort, prednisone. Steroids worked but WAY to many side effects so decide to stop. I'm also trying herbs but no magic pill yet.

In regards to the weight. I just gave up. I can't seem to get back to my pre surgical weight. I drink daily protein shakes which at least helps me maintain my weight. I hope this helps. Keep us posted.
