My husband (age 90) had his whipple (complete pancreatectomy) one year ago. Today with the exception of fried foods or dishes heavy in fat he can eat anything as long as he takes the Creon pill (24,000 units) before every meal. He does enjoy wine with dinner. If he eats too much fat (and he does like to push the envelope) he will for sure end up with diarrhea for a day or so. Hes learning. The other but is keeping an eye on carbs and sugars. Maybe you already know about blood sugar management. If not, its a good question to ask your medical team before you are discharged from the hospital. And its very important to pay attention to good nutrition. My husband had good days and bad days after his surgery. He did take Reglan for a couple of weeks after his surgery to help the stomach get adjusted to the new normal. Dont get discouraged!
