Zometa - a bisphosphonate medication - can stabilize the disease in the bone, prevent fracture and sometimes help pain. Is he on it?

Does the location of the pain correspond with the position of the bone met? If not, the radiation is less helpful. but radiation can help if the pain if it is truly due to the bone disease.

Is he on a nerve pain medicine, like neurontin or cymbal to or Effexor? All have cheap generic versions that are fine. They don't cause constipation, and work synergistically with the opiods.

Do they think adding an anti-inflammatory medicine could help? Ask the doctor if see are safe for him?

Sometimes a simple hot pad or cold pack can be a godsend. The temperature change confuses the pain sensing neurons.

Is a pain doctor who works with cance patients helping him? Is a palliative care doctor helping him?
