So very sorry to hear of your wife's diagnosis. You have used your research
skills well to already have underway what experienced folks have recommended.
One thing for your wife I would recommend is to get a nutrition consult as
needed on what foods and possibly drink supplements might be tolerated best
and give the most bang for the buck if her ability to eat and digest foods
change. On her good days try and get her to continue to get exercise by
walking or doing other things she might enjoy.
** Although different in site, our friend who has had PC for almost 6 years
and been at Stage 4 for 2.5 years with spread to the lungs was given
Folfironox when found in both lungs which kept it stable for 2 years. When
growth started again this spring, he underwent another aggressive chime (not
sure what combo) which after three months of every other week, we just
learned the treatment had stopped growth and shrunk all does. So once again
in watchful mode. Of note in his case, his CA-19 levels never went above 200
and he said have been in normal or very close to normal even when there was
the growth patterns. He has blood work done every 6 weeks and a scan every
12 to monitor his condition.
For your own well-being, you do need to follow the advice to find a support
system you can just share with. Also accept family and friends help to stay
with your wife so that you can have breaks to just unwind yourself without
any guilt because you need to be well for her. Keep a check on how you are
doing as far as mental health, too, as prolonged stress can pull a person
down. Prayers for both of you.
