I had a Whipple that ended up being a Roux En Y after monitoring for a year with minor growth. I went to an accupuncturist in prep during that time. Much that you do for alternative treatment and consultation is out of pocket. Do not let insurance dictate your options. Unfortunately that is the nature of our insurance whether it is left in the hands of government oversight or the profit motive of corporate entities. I went to MD Adnderson Elkins Pancreatic Center and had the surgery near where I live in Dallas. I recommend that you get a consultant from one of the big PC centers and make your decision after that. Good luck. There are many resources out there. Don't let the statistics scare you.
