Thank you for replying. Your question was mine; apparently the location based on CT was too near some veins/arteries to be sure of clear margins; if the mass were not cancer, they could go in and get 'most' of it and not worry about what was left behind, but if it were cancer they did not want to risk it. The 4th biopsy was a needle biopsy which confirmed adenocarcinoma, and he has just begun chemo (Gemzar/Abraxane).
