I had Whipple Surgery several years ago and so far everything is OK, except that I became diabetic after surgery. Having been able to handle it with diet and exercise, I am now to the point of possibly having to go on insulin. (Have tried typical medicines including Metformin which did not work out for me. I am out of options on oral meds.) If I have to take insulin, apparently it will be daily injection of long acting type. Would really appreciate anyone who had Whipple surgery and had to go on insulin sharing their experience. Nothing works the same after Whipple surgery as we all know. I am particularly concerned about possible low blood sugar episodes, and weight gain or loss.
