My uncle saw his oncologist yesterday, who hinted heavily that as we are no longer actively seeking chemotherapy, we should stop seeing him. So not helpful. He also told my family that he believes my uncle 'doesn't have very much longer now' but will not give us a more definite timeframe. After that conversation, my uncle told us he wants to stop trying the clinical trials and would like to accept hospice. I guess he had been willing to go along with it because that's what we wanted him to try, but now that he thinks the end is near, he wants to do things his way. Question: Where do we go now? Do we have to see a palliative care doctor first before we accept hospice? Does hospice at home come with palliative care services? We are need to know how to manage the pain and the ascites now that his oncologist is out of the picture.
