Considering the information you provided it really depends on the person whether or not they want to be at home. For our dad it was his wish. For us unfortunately it was our childhood home filled with wonderful memories and then of the decline. In my experience if they are telling you Hospice is appropriate, then I would stop researching clinical trials. If there was a trial available and he was appropriate they would have gone down that road. Enjoy the time you have left with him. In my experience even palliative chemo did nothing for our dad. He developed Ascites as well with spread to the peritoneum. You can research the development of Ascites in pancreatic cancer patients, however, the outcomes are not favorable. Make him comfortable, honor his wishes. It's hard when it's not what we want for them. This disease is relentless. Prayers to you and your family.
