Over the last four days I have been reading articles on the internet on Lunesin. Lunesin has been under study for the past 15 years. The nutritional companies have jumped on it and sell it as a supplement. Unfortunately, it is not FDA controlled and you wouldn’t know if you are actually getting the lunasin. If I was to try one of these products along with the soy foods, I would start with either LunaRichX or the soybean protein sold in health food stores to mix into shakes and foods. LunaRichX claim the doctor who discovered lunasin helped them to develop it. The same doctor has a patent pending on lunasin extraction, not the LunaRichX. Other information I have found is it is derived from soybeans, barley, rye and wheat and edamame. In review of some of the scientificc and nutritional journals, what has been discovered with regard to cancer is that it keeps a variety of cancers from spreading and also helps reduce the size of some tumors in petri dishes in the lab and in mice and rats. Human trials are underway. It is also believed to reduce inflammation from stress and our unhealthy lifestyles which contribute to cancer formation. After consumption of soy, it is believed that it sits in the middle of the cell and prevents the cell from mutating into many different types of cancer cells. You can get it through food. The articles I read said it is in organic soy milk, regular soy milk, tofu, bean curd, tempeh and su-jae. It is also found in soy flour, infant formula, soy bean cake, barley cereal, Triticale, solanum and amaranthus seeds. The ratio used with mice for a colon cancer metastasis study through the University of Illinois was 20 milligrams per 1 kilogram of body weight and reduced 18 tumors to one. I haven’t done the math conversion. I’ve seen articles that look at consuming between 50 – 100 grams of soy protein daily for cancer prevention, probably higher for cancer intervention. It is also available as soy protein to mix in milk shakes or chili or other foods. I think the soy protein would be available from health food stores. The research is trying to extract the chemical in a uniform quality and amount and establish a dosage level with a delivery system that won’t get destroyed by the digestive juices. Research has found that lunasin in foods survives the digestive juices, but at a reduced level, less than 50% of what they are after. But they also believe that it can builds up in your system over time through food consumption. So, I would think every little bit would help.
