It almost doesn't matter what 'caused' this now. While this is likely somehow related to the cancer and/or his prior surgery, the goal now is simply to try to stabilize him. And if there is an infection somewhere, to treat it. And if there is a leak somewhere, to plug it. And if there is a blockage somewhere, to open it.
Sometimes these things just come out of nowhere.... a complication.... and they can't be predicted... and often, they can't be easily prevented. Keep moving forward.
I have been thinking about you and your father. Let us know how he is doing.
