I have written before about our friend who is now a 5 year survivor of PC and
who has kept working throughout. In January 2013 he had nodules light up in
both lungs and did have 4 sessions of Folfironox and when first PET showed no
one large one was reduced and all else stable no more treatment.
His follow-up is a blood test every six weeks, but no idea what kind and then
a PET every 3 months. Probably for others from your husband's experience it
is good to point out there should at least be a yearly scan forever.
Also, always be looking at other options as our friend's doctor said if a
growth starts again they will try to get him into an immunotherapy trial
which seems to need to have to occur after chemo on a recurrence has failed.
Anyway just good to have an oncologist who will listen to you and who will
keep an open mind.
