But yes, yes. Folks do take chemo vacations. It is very common. Sometimes they are 'forced' vacations because your counts drop too much with chemo and you take a few extra weeks off. Or you develop a more severe side effect and you take a few months off. And yes... sometimes you choose to take a vacation willingly because you need a break mentally or physically.... or even because you are doing so well you have earned a break.
There is no right answer as to how long. I have definitely seen breaks of 1-3 months, and sometimes longer when people are doing very well. Usually you continue to follow markers and can use those as a guide as to whether/when to restart. But the most important guide is how you are feeling.
Yes, sometimes the tumors may grow, and the numbers may increase. But
sometimes that is worth it to have a vacation.
