Hello, My wife was diagnosed with advanced PC with mets to both lungs.

In the beginning, before the PC diagnosis, she had a FNA endoscopy of a small lesion in her Pancreas in Feb 2014; the results came back all benign. Her CA 19-9 was also normal. As a follow up in Sept 2014, she had another FNA endoscopy of the same small lesion in her Pancreas; the results came back all benign. The report said, the lesion is completely benign. The report said, it was a epithelial cyst in the ductal area and benign.

However in September they were suspicious as her MRI showed several small cysts in both her lungs. A wedge biopsy was done and confirmed adenocarcino. As a follow up, staining was done on that tissue and it indicated it was a metastasis coming from the GI.

Therefore they diagnosed it as Advanced PC with mets to the lungs. She has always been asymptomatic and her CA 19-1 has always been normal.

Eight months of chemo have passed and the everything is still stable and asymptomatic.

Question: Could they have missed the malignant cyst in her Pancreas even though they did two FNA with up to ten samples per both times?

I'm sending off her scans and report for a second opinion.

I'd welcome any insight into this. Thanks. Jeff
