I was able to work after surgery. Desk job, but high stress. I decided to retire nine months after the surgery, but it was not due to physical pain. For exercise, I took long walks at first, over an hour as I was able to build up strength. After retirement, I spent a lot of time gardening, which was good both for regaining strength as well as calming. I did some light yoga. Today, I still take the long brisk walks, do gardening, work out several times a week on Spin Bike (moderate), and do resistance and flexibility work with light weights. I don't do all of these every day of course :~). With time, things improved. I believe getting my diet and enzyme requirements figured out contributed greatly to my overall health and strength.

Hope your situation improves soon.
