I read about this on another cancer website.

Transfused platelets only last 3 days. This would mean you would need to get transfused very frequently, with frequent blood tests for safety. Probably not practical. It also mentioned that the more frequent you get transfusions, the shorter they will last. I think your own body starts to make antibodies against platelets when you are inundated with them from tranfusions.
