This is a reasonable question. It is not clear to me why transfusions are done when your red cells drop, and growth factors are given when your white cells drop, but why isn't something done when your platelets drop?

Has anyone asked their doctor?

I just have to assume that it isn't cost effective to do this. But I honestly do not know.
