One of the things we all have to remember is that five year survival rates are always five years behind the curve. What I mean by that is that todays five year rates are based on surgeries done five years or more in the past. This doesn't take into consideration any advances in surgical technique, better procedures, etc that have been implemented into todays surgeries. I would hope that surgeries done today will have shown better survival rates five years from now.
