My 60 year old mom was just told she has Pancreatic Cancer on Thursday, May 21st. She has back pain but no other further symptoms other than some stomach pain. No jaundice, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc. She compares the soreness to after doing sit-ups.
She had the back pain so she decided to see a doctor. We are located in Los Angeles, CA. The first doctor did blood work and found blood in her urine. She sent her to a Urologist who later sent her to get a CT scan. The CT scan revealed a 2.5 inch mass on her pancreas which was said to be cancer by the UCLA Oncologist. He reported it looks like something is on the vein/artery as well. Something is there... a clot or something. Tuesday she is getting a biopsy and then Thursday she is getting a PET Scan.
My brother and I have been researching and learning a lot. We are possibly going to take here to MD Anderson Cancer Center. I was just looking for some guidance on what to do or expect for my dear mother. I am unsure of what the stage level it is and do not know what to think or expect. My brother and I are both Firefighters so we know how fragile life is, but when it's your mother it really hurts.
She is in great spirits and will do anything she needs to beat this! Any
thoughts or insight would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
