Is she still in the hospital? Ask for the palliative care doctor to come speak with her to ally her concerns. If she is home, ask the hospice nurse to talk with her.

It is true that you become tolerant to the pain meds, but that is over many MONTHS. And then all you do is increase the dose. That is normal. Also, some times a combination of things can help the pain.... Opioids/morphine meds, Tylenol/anti-inflammtories, neuropathic pain meds, hot/cold packs and even nerve blocks.
